Joel,

While you have the system drained I recommend replacing the thermostat and any weak looking hoses. Have you replaced the stock plastic nipple on the right head with a metal one? If not this would be a good time to do so.

You can use a 180C or 187C thermostat. Either will work. I think the spec calls for a 187C but many folks run a 180C. Be sure to get a replacement rubber o-ring with the thermostat. As far as brands, the ones I have gotten (from various dealers and vendors) are made by Wahler I belive. I don't recommend getting this part from a FLAP, I'd use a dealer or one of the list vendors.
