After noticing that my water level gauge would always read 1/2 (yellow) unless it was completely full, I pulled the level sensor rod out of the tank and tested it with an ohm meter. By sliding the gray float up and down the tube, I found that instead of three different readings, I get only two - at the very top and at the very bottom. I also noticed that there is a slightly audible "click" as the microswitch (?) is activated at the top and bottom positions. I assume there must be one of the microswitches in the center as well, and mine must be fried. Using the archives, I managed to find a part number - 255 070 812 (Thanks to Jim at Sherwood Automotive) Checking the Bus Depot's site I did not find this part. (Ugh - dealer only?) I notice it is manufactured by Delta Six Industries. Questions: Anyone know a good alternative (non-dealer) source for this part? Is it worth trying to fiddle with it t get it working, and if so, how? I'd rather save the $$ for my upcoming Optima battery installation... :-) Thanks Brent Christensen '89 Syncro Westy |
