Robert and Cliff, Thanks for confirming its' function and the offer of an extra switch you have on hand. The PO probably diverted the switch for the alarm. I'll know more tomorrow when I get the replacement part from my VW dealer. It's only $7.70. I'll try to be more careful in the future.
