Like the Haynes, the Pocket Mechanic manual is more "backyard-mechanic" friendly than the Bentley but not as complete, focusing mainly on the mechanical side of things rather than including, for example, removal of camper components like the Bentley does. Being a British manual (as is the Haynes) it also does not cover anything that is specific to the US version, although there are very few differences and they are typically quite minor. The print quality is much better on the Haynes than on the P.M., but I'd call them about equal overall other than that. However, there are a lot of list members who have bought both of these from me and probably used them more extensively than I have, given my limited free time and (knock wood) lack of need for repairs on my own Vanagon for quite some time. Perhaps some of them could e-mail you their feedback. - Ron Salmon The Bus Depot, Inc. http://www.busdepot.com |
