often (not always) after 200 hignway miles my 2.1 L '87 Vanagon GL starts bogging @ 4000 rpm, but only under acceleration/load. when its in a "session" the idle is erratic/high (2000 rpm)/or non existant (stalls). any ideas? get this: my local VW dealer (Curran VW/stratford ct) said their $60.oo diagnostic includes only a visual inspection of the engine compartment! (as if, in the rare occasion I let someone else work on my bus, I'm not already going to have done the basics) and, according to them, there is no computer diagnostic test possible b/c all the VW service dept's have gotten rid of their vanagon specific equipment! this sounds a little odd to me. ...(shaking his head the service dept manager said "you vanagon guys are on your own"..) -curt |
