Mark >> That is kinda how they import new Mexican Beetles (old aircooled body style) into the US. They strip it down to the pan (which has vin numbers etc) and ship the pans to Mexico for refurbishing. Then they put a new body on the pan, new motor, interior, etc. So you basically get a new Bug but it is technically a restoration. They are selling these brand new Beetles for around the price of a new Watercooled Beetle (so you know which one I would want).
