Garrett, On my '84 that switch DOES operate the dome lights. Any chance the PO disconnected it from that function to use it for the alarm? I was puttering around I broke the door type push-switch for the rear hatch lid. The switch is located about an inch or so to the left of the hatch striker plate. Before I drive my local VW dealer's parts guy crazy I wanted to confirm that the switch is VW original for the 1983's. I don't recall the switch ever operating the dome light like that done by the other door switches. Also the PO installed the alarm system and I believe he "wired" the hatch as a protected entry point. If so that switch may be his handiwork. Your confirmations will determine where I'll go parts looking. Garrett Adams 1983.5 Adventurewagen GL |
