I was somewhat surprised to see VW rebuilds characterized as junk in some earlier postings. I have purchased 2 rebuilds from Volkswagen Canada and feel that I have been well served by both. The first was a 1600 dual port for my recently dear departed '69 camper which was installed in 1984 and is probably still pushing her around. The second is in my '83.5 "workhorse" Vanagon which has been pushing me and about 1500 lbs of tools and materials for my trade around for the last 3 yrs with nary a complaint save an occasional loping idle that I've become pretty accustomed to after 9 yrs and isn't mechanical in origins, anyway. This one is running stronger than the original ever did in my experience. |
