Subject: Transporting Vanagons/Westfalias Cross-Country - Summary
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Well, I've successfully had a Westfalia transported from Michigan to Colorado. I asked for referrals from the list, and this is the only one I received:

Buddy at Anthony's Transport in Burlingame ,Ca. 1-800-606-2006,ask for Buddy

Their quote was for $825 from SouthHaven, MI to Boulder, CO and for $775 for a non-running Westy from Flagstaff, AZ to Boulder, CO.

I ended up using AAA-Auto Transport out of New York 888.821.0673. My contact there was Ross. Their price was $750 from Michigan to Boulder and $700 for the non-running one from Flagstaff. I had them ship the Michigan van to Colorado. The van arrived on schedule and in fine shape. The bill of lading was actually from another company, Bob's Auto. It turns out that most of the shippers I contacted were actually brokers and didn't do the shipping themselves.

So, for the Flagstaff to Boulder transport, I called Bob's Auto, Englewood, CO - 800.287.2593 or 303.789.2593 (the guys who actually shipped the other van from Michigan) directly, for a quote. $400. I was pretty surprised that the brokers added so much to the price. Needless to say, I scheduled the transport with Bob's for $400. They're set to do it next week.

Matt.
