Subject: testing upper control arm bushings
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

85 Westy 155,000 miles:

I have my wheels off to replace upper ball joints and I've noticed the upper control arm bushings have quite a bit of play when I wiggle them. Does this mean they need replacing, or is there a degree of play allowed (Bentley outlines an 'on the ground' test that seems to indicate some play is allowed).
