The hand of fate works in strange ways and there are parallel universes out there.

I reported earlier that there is a new syncro westy in my neighborhood. I have since had dinner with the owner (from Germany) and his wife and their daughter, who happens to be withing a few months of my daughter's age (5). Peter and his wife moved to this neighborhood for the same reasons i did (lots of woods, green space, parks and ocean). they are so close i copuld hit their house with a rock. Anyway, hoping to stave off fits of jealousy and rivalery from my syncro, I invited Peter and his syncro over to my garage for a drink of Redline MT-90 this evening...actually both vans had the Mt-90, while Peter and I sampled his private stock of german beers. While comparing the vans, i remarked that his was the only other 1990 i had seen with black mirrors. We checked serial number tags. Both were made in June 1989. We then checked the numbers...his is No. 201 and mine is No. 209! The amazing thing is that his van was purchased in germany (for u.s.import) by the PO. They were probably made the same day. They probably saw eachother and got to know eachother in the final inspection area even. And now 10 years later, they meet again! And both still look new. How "cool"!
