In January my rebuild from VW-Canada was three years old and now has just over 50,000 miles on it. While the rest of my van is predictably declining around my perfect engine (i just turned over 195,000 miles), this engine was the BEST $3,500 I ever spent. I had it expertly installed by a good mechanic here in Atlanta that sadly does not take new VW customers--he's shifting over to Toyota Lexus trash :-(

I have noticed that i do leak or use about 1/2 quart of oil in say 2,500 miles now. The thing has always leaked a bit around where the filler tube goes into the crankcase so i don't know what the ratio of burn to leak is. I use synthetic and I change it at 5,000 miles.

It's hard to know if i have any coolant leaks related to the engine. I am slowly replacing all the hoses, this weekend the big plastic connecter with the bleeder and the heater hoses get done. I have a slow drip (when cold) from that bleeder valve. I finally got the parts from Camelback VW this week.

Has anyone ever come up with a list of what fuel hoses are what size? I have never replaced mine and i would like to before the thing goes up in smoke!
