Subject: Westy Fridge Problems
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

I have received about 10 requests for proceeding with the fridge project so I plan to do so. The first step will be identifying the type of failure each of us has. Then we will take various steps to correct them. The focus will be on GAS operation as that is the main trouble area. Please respond with the problem you have, we will add to the following list as needed. Feel free to take part if yours works ok or to add your own experiences in fridge servicing. The goal is to first get the fridges working as intended and then to move on to improving the performance in very hot weather.

1. Will not light. 2. Lights but goes out immediately. 3. Lights but goes out in a minute or two. 4. Lights but goes out if left on overnight. 5. Lights and stays on but does not cool well.

It is my hope and experience that all but the last of these problems can be fixed without removing the fridge. I will be removing my fridges in any case as I always put new fans in. The stock fans are too noisy for me, if they work at all. We will check things step by step and we should be able to get most of our fridges working well. If you do not have the mechanical skills to remove to fridge, don't worry yet, it might not be necessary.

Mark
