Subject: Exhaust struts
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed

Volks -- Bentley shows three struts on the left-hand side exhaust for the DigiJet. I have two: from bracket on collector pipe to #4 cylinder exhaust pipe (straight) and from bracket to rear mounting point for left-side tin. Can't figure where the third one is supposed to go -- there is another stud on the #4 pipe flange, so I presume one end goes there. Help?

BTW, I'm getting tired of these bloody things rusting to bits, so I'm covering them with braze metal. They cost way too much from the vactory ($25 US for a little 4 inch one), and the homemade ones I've seen have failed from inadequate stress relief at the ends. The braze repairs I've made to rusting ends have been very durable (folded light sheet metal over the end, then fill in with braze metal, grind for stress relief and drill).
