I bet it's the seat-belt switch -- internal switch in the female buckle to shut off the light on the dash. Goes through a hole in the side of the box, as I recall. Gray and brown sounds right (all grounds are brown).

One is the reefer and the other is the water pump, monitor panel, overhead light. The reefer prob. uses 16 amp, 8 should suffice for the other. Check that before you start tearing your lights apart.

Maybe. Use your new meter to find out where the voltage is *when the light is not working* -- there should be 12v across the light. If it shows up anywhere else then that's the problem. BTW, a burnt-out bulb will sometimes self-weld the ends of the filament when you tap it.
