Subject: Re: water tank level sensor

Many thanks to those of you who steered me in the right direction for a replacement unit from Delta Six (Euro American). However, based on some excellent information I got from David Beierl <dbeierl@ibm.net>, I started poking around a bit with my multi meter, and now I suspect that my LED panel may be the problem. I want to find out for sure before I lighten my wallet for either of these components. (Always better to be a good diagnostician than a "parts-swapper" eh?)

My problem is that the test procedure outlined in the Bentley (97.30) seems to cover a different unit than I have. It says to "-connect other jumper wire to white, yellow, and green wire of sender unit one after another"... Well, my sender only has two wires - green and black. Do the older style units use 4 wires? Anyone know the test procedure for the two-wire sender? Or am I just reading this incorrectly?

The fact that I get three distinct impedance readings from the sender (but only "clicks" from the top and bottom most positions) leads me to believe that I should also be getting three LED readings, right?

Thanks in advance
