Subject: engine rebuild date?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Folks -

Got lucky and found a 83.5 vanagon that suffered an (unlucky) electrical harness meltdown/fire in the engine compartment; was able to purchase the engine and transmission and both look to be in good shape. Peeling back the dirt, I found a sticker on the engine block saying "Volkswagen Canada - rebuild, Engine number 91748" (? might have the last couple numbers wrong)

So, is there a way to take that "Engine number" and find out when it was rebuilt and where?

Many thanks!
