Actually, maybe it's better that it wasn't locked. When I was in San Francisco a couple of years ago, they broke the vent window (it was locked) and then smashed the main passenger window (it couldn't be rolled down as I have power windows)and did some body damage in the process.. Then almost everything was stolen ($3000 replacement value).

I lived in the van for over 3 months after that in SF without incident and enjoyed the city very much. And, since everything was stolen, I had more room. I don't know what the moral of the story is here, but there's got to be one somewhere.....
