Thanks to all who responded. It seems I had a standard problem with the propane circuit of the 3-way fridge which caused the fridge not to work on propane anymore. Basically, the circuit was plugged up with dirt, rust, you name it. I did the following and now the fridge works like a charm. 1 - remove the Flue Vent (metal cover where fridge gets and spits out air on outside of van) 2 - disconnect gas line to fridge (accessible by removing metal grill on left side of fridge) 3 - disconnect other wires which bring current from battery and 110v plug (accessible through dish cabinet under sink) 4 - remove the fridge (screws accessible in side cabinets and in front) 5 - the combustion chamber is at the bottom left corner of the fridge in the back. Open it and clean out the dirt. 6 - blow compressed air up through the large vent pipes and through the tube which runs along the bottom of the fridge from the combustion chamber to the front (it has a screw-on metal cap) 7 - re-assemble it all My combustion chamber and tubes were *really* dirty. It would probably suffice to blow compressed air through the tube which comes out the front if the system wasn't so plugged up. The dirt should blow out of the flue vent so it's probably better to remove the cover plate of the flue vent first. But at least you don't have to take the fridge out. I will try to remember to do this regularly so that the dirt doesn't accumulate. Cheers! Darie '86 Westy |
