I have heard before that when a good rebuilder does an engine he puts an asterisk (looks like a star) on the engine case after the engine code. Well I have two vans here right now. One is a Canadian rebuild I know that for sure and it has an asterisk after the engine code. The other van is a '85 and only has 90k miles on the clock. Yet this engine has an asterisk too. So what is the verdict, does an asterisk mean a VW rebuilt engine. Is there a plaque on the canadian rebuilt engines somewhere? (I haven't looked that close at the latest engine but the '85 engine I have been all over cleaning it and didn't find anything). Thanks for any help you can give. Ken Wilford Van-Again John 3:16 |
