Subject: Can't shut off propane tank
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hi,

While cleaning up the propane system of the fridge this weekend I discovered that I can't shut off the propane at the tank level anymore. I turned the knob all the way in and lit the 2 gas burners to get rid of anything in the lines. After a half hour or so the burners were still going strong. When I took out the fridge to clean it I had to plug up the pipe to avoid leaking the propane as much as possible.

Anyone have this problem before?

Another question: the exterior of my propane tank is very rusty but I think the thing is thick enough to withstand a bit of material loss. I plan to remove the tank, grind down the rust, primer it and paint it. Does someone have strong recommendations against this? Is there a relatively safe way to empty the rest of the gas quickly in order to proceed with this?

Thanks for everything.
