Hi, Ron. There are several possibilities, some may seem too easy but please check them anyway. Are you sure that you have the temp setting fully clockwise after the pilot is lit? Does your fridge have the green LED for the pilot or the gauge inside on the control panel? Is the propane turned on all the way both at the tank and at the fridge? Please light both burners of the stove and make sure that on the highest setting that the flames are at about an inch long.

In order for the fridge to work right on propane, the vanagon must be level. Make sure it is, then light the fridge and turn up the temp setting to fully clockwise. Go around to the side and listen very closely at the flue vent. It should be getting hot and you should be able to hear flames. If you are not parked where it is quiet, this may be difficult. If you think you CAN hear the flames, have someone slowly turn down the temp setting while you listen. At some point you should hear the flames get much quieter. Knock on the side of the van and have them note the position of the temp setting when you hear the change in the flames. Do it again, starting from the minimum setting and have them turn it up until you hear the burner kick in again. This will give us some confidence that the thermostat is doing something. Let me know how all of this goes and we will proceed.
