Alan- The recall notice I received indicated that that it was possible for the AC duct to fall, and that their repair would consist of (essentially) installing a simple bracket to more securely support the duct. However, I can't say that I did not disassemble the rascal to check it out (let sleeping dogs lie, etc.).

I would imagine that you are right, that the PO probably had it done (since VW sent notices and freebie coupons), but it would seem like it was poorly done. I guess I was wondering if it could be "re-repaired" by the VW folks given the apparently inadequate job performed earlier. However, if the PO was not really near an authorized shop, it may have escaped uncorrected.

By the way, congrats on the new family member. I hope everyone is healthy and in good spirits! -- Mark A. Williamson Denver, CO 88 Wolfsburg Weekender (135K)
