Subject: Reply to Mr. Paterson's question

Hello vanagon listees, I wanted to make a response to a recent question on the list about one of our rebuilt longblocks. We do our best to stand behind our product and treat people fairly. Just to be fair, I wanted to at least let the list know, that in no way did we say Mr.Paterson's warranty was over because it was over the time or the mileage. To the contrary we have offered to repair the motor for him, if he can have a shop pull the engine and let us ship it back to our facility. When a customer calls in and states there is a problem, and isn't for sure what the problem is, or where it lies, but just states a shop wants X amount of $ to repair it, unfortuneately we can't give them an open check, we need to inspect the engine and repair as needed. The price it would cost to RXR the full motor is less then they quoted to pull the head and repair a problem, so that's why we are concerned on just ok'ing this type of repair. Also there are other variables on the condition of the longblock, if it's ran hot etc... so that's also why we must see the engine. But like I stated we already told the customer, we would pay 1 way shipping, plus repair the engine at no cost, no matter what has happened and get it back to him within 7 -10 days. That's,we believe very fair. Just the amount of time he has used deciding what to do, has used 7 days. So hopefully we can get this resolved and have him down the road, the objective is to keep the customer Happy, but every company has to have guidelines to follow also. Another thought is that there are always 2 sides to every story, sometimes on the internet lists you only get to see and hear one. Thanks for your time. AVP
