Exciting title, eh?

But seriously Volks; I'm interested in removing the inside folding arms on the front seats, so I can get the maximum shuffle space into the rear area of my 85GL. I pried off the little black plastic cover, beneath that is what looks like a hex-nut which the arm seems to rotate on. I've tried every allen wrench I could locate in my toolbox, nothing fit, worse, it seems that I have to apply more pressure than the metal of the nut is going to stand.

I'm wondering if I'm barking up the wrong tree - is that hex nut the way to remove the arms, or am I just screwing up the whole thing?

While I've got all of you captive reading this message, does anyone want to recommend a "Mechanics 101 for Vanagon Owners" - I've got the Bentley manual - and maybe if I take 2 years in mechanic's school I might be able to read it. I understand the Hanyes is supposed to be a little more basic - but what I'm looking for is a *simple* general maintenance manual.

Anyhow; Thanks in advance for info! Brian Cirulnick techrat@vm.com
