Any decent mechanic or air conditioning shop can shift your a/c from freon to R-134. It is not necessary to go tho the dealer! You may want to get a new receiver/dryer, especially if your a/c has had a freon leak for some time. Note that standard receiver/dryers will work okay if you can find one that has the correct physical dimensions and appropriate placement of hose connections.

I had this done last summer on my 86 Syncro and have been totally pleased with the results.
