Subject: My First Oil Filter Failure/Bosch
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

<Where does Bosch fit in on the quality curve?>

I bought some Bosch oil filters (72150) on special at Canadian Tyre a couple of months ago for about CA$5-00 each and they look EXACTLY the same as the genuine VW/AUDI oil filter (034 115 561) that I had bought earlier and had not yet used. And I mean EXACTLY the same! Same black colour. Exact same dimensions. Exact same shape. Even the rubber O-ring gasket had the exact same little coloured stripes on it. Same colours in the same order in the same place!! Both the Bosch and the VW/AUDI filters were brand new and I was able to compare them side by side. Only the label was different. I'm sure the genuine VW/AUDI filter is a re-labeled Bosch. It sure looks like it.

And I haven't had any problems with it so far. No warning buzzers etc. I'm happy.
