I will be doing the same thing. As near as I can determine, all you need to do is replace the water pump and thermostat housing with the ones from the 1.9, and remove the shorter oil filter nipple from the 1.9 and install it into the 2.1, since you won't be using the 2.1's oil cooler. (Use two nuts locked together to remove and install the nipples.) Retain the same water plumbing and exhaust system. Without running power steering, and in my case A/C, there should be no problem leaving off the cooler (especially in Alaska!), and you get all that extra power delivered to the wheels. "Fred D.
