Hello Martin and the group.
Thank for the info on the oil return from the turbo.
I will need to return the oil from my 1.9 conversion back to the pan. The
block has a spot to do it above the pan but it
is very close to the oil output of the turbo and I want there to be some
vertical drop.
Has anyone drilled out the aluminum pan from the Vanagon? Where did you put
the hole?
Does this lead the pan cracking around the hole?
I looked at 1/2" line for the return line.... looks awful big! I wonder
what size lines you guys are using.
Since it is aluminum pan I don't think it can be brazed... I believe I will
have to find some kind of fitting... like a bulk head?
Another thing that is different between the 1.9TD and the 1.6 NA is the oil
filter/cooler attachment to the block.
The 1.9 is much different. Is is quite a bit meatier and longer as well. I
had to order a used 1 from th eguys at TMS in Canada.
No I cannot locate a gasket for it so I may have to make one.
As far as the trouble I had with the injector pump not being located exactly
as it was on the 1.6 thanks to Dana Morphew I was able to
rebend the lines to make it fit properly...
Thanks to all
Paulc
