Now, I guess you are wondering what has happened. Well, I can tell you, its not the head gaskets (phew), not the Syncro tranny (double phew), but one other common failure, the ignition switch. The X-connection is dead. I was out driving last night, it was dark, and pouring down. Suddenly, it was dark, no lights, the wipers stopped together with the heater fan. Pulled into the first place I could get off the road, and starting to fickle around in the fuse box. Managed to put in a wire to get the low beams working, and the wipers running again. So, I need to get a new ignition switch. What I need to know is, I noticed the FLAPS had Golf/Jetta 85-92 switches cheap, is this the same unit? I know the Golf 1/Rabbit switch was the same as in my 73 Square, but is it still the same switch? 74 PerL 88 Syncro 112i |
