Steven - When I pulled my fridge last week, I discovered that the gas fitting on the top rear is the same as the fitting on my gas grill where the rubber hose from the supply tank attaches to the valves. My tank has the pressure regulator attached, with the supply hose coming from it, so I just hooked it up on the bench in the garage and tested everything! I wouldn't guarantee that it is universally true, but it's worth a try. Now I'm going to have to test the pressure coming from my propane regulator. I left the refrigerator running on gas today, with the thermostat straight up. It had been about 32 early in the morning, but was above 45 by lunchtime. The outside temperature was about 85 degrees, and the van was in partial sun. - Mike Finkbiner '87 Westy

I've pulled my fridge and fixed the fan. I cleaned out the combustion chamber, on the theory that it was a good idea even though the fridge ran OK on propane. There's more repair work to do to the van behind the fridge (both the tank-fill and city water fittings leak), but I hope to some day actually put the fridge back. When I do, how can I test the propane fitting on the combustion chamber? I can easily enough spray some soapy water on the top (main gas inlet) fitting, but I can't see any way to get to the combustion chamber fitting (which I had to remove to clean the chamber) once the fridge is installed, and I don't know any reasonably easy way to give it a gas supply without installing it. What have others who have repaired their fridges done? -Steven Sittser _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web.
