I posted about a week ago that I had discovered a major rust out on one of the coolant pipes on my 84 Vanagon. For your information, I cut about four inches off the damaged pipe, exposing good clean metal. I then used a galvanized pipe nipple and some straight 1 1/4" radiator hose. I double clamped the sawed off pipe and applied permatex anti-seize. I pushed the nipple back into the engine compartment so I could partially collapse the radiator hose and get it to fit through the hole in the engine room shroud. I will let you know if I have any more troubles with this fix.
