I went to a local department store and purchased a Rubbermaid box that has
the latches on the side.  It seals tight enough to keep things dry and has
area to secure it with bungee cords.  Plus you can have the whole set up for
less than US$25 if you watch for them to go on sale.

Please note - During the past 17 years of operation, several gigabytes of Vanagon mail messages have been archived. Searching the entire collection will take up to five minutes to complete. Please be patient!
