The solution will be to clean the contacts in the switch. Easy. Remove the
plastic covers from the steering column, and look into the right side of the
switch cluster as you pull the lever as you would to operate the washers.
You will see two contacts closing there. Get some fine emery paper or a very
fine nail filecard, and clean between the contacts with that. A few swipes
should do it. Then push a clean piece of paper through the contacts to
remove the dirt (unless you have some contact cleaner or alcohol handy to
clean them). Voila!
