Subject: strange cooling problems
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

OK Any ideas would be appreciated.

My 88 Wolfsburg runs fine, but once it gets warm (15 or 20 minutes of driving), strange things happen. First, the coolant temp gauge goes wacko, showing high temp, then swings down to cold temp, then back to high temp, sometimes stopping at normal temp. Sometimes the little red light starts then blinking but then it stops. On 2 occasions, coolant overflowed from over heating. The system coolant level seems fine. This scenerio only happens sometimes.

Is there air in the system? water pump going? thermostat shot?

Thanks, Mike
