Subject: New to list, looking to buy a Vanagon
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hello all, I'm new to the list, though not new to VW's. I'm seriously considering purchasing a used Vanagon as a second vehicle. I'd prefer the aircooled type, mainly because of cost. This will be a second vehicle, bought for cargo/passenger capacity. It needs to be as cheap in initial cost and long term costs as possible. What do I need to look for to stay out of trouble buying one? I've owned a '73 VW Thing, and had a couple of friends with type-2 busses and beetles. I'd rather get a Vanagon because it's safer than the old bay window bus, and simply because of age. All of the old style busses around here are rusty junk, but all the Vanagons I've looked at are in pretty good shape.

Thanks, Roland
