The PO of my 86 GL had the tranny get stuck in third gear too. He went to the dealer who fixed it by replacing 3rd and 4th gears and some bearings for under $1k total. I agree w/ G.M. Bulley, run like the wind from that shop and never go back. This is a repairable problem.
