Try a stretch cargo net from a FLAP. With some hooks around the perimeter you could segregate that area. Be mindful of net opening size though ( smaller would be better) . You wouldn't want to wake up to a bad scene down below. Also, maybe one of the metal cargo dividers available for many SUV's and station wagons would work. Again, be mindful of openings that could trap the little tyke!
