Subject: FS 1991 Westfalia Syncro
Content-type: text/plain; format=flowed;
Greetings all,
This is a sad day indeed for me. I came to this list a year and a half ago
while I was searching for my vanagon. I found one a year ago and it was
perfect. I am now returing to the list to sell it. Here are the details.
1991 Syncro Westphalia
54000 original miles
Alpine white exterior with grey interior
All power locks and windows
A/C, PS etc
Additional propane tank (doubles original capacity, fills at the same time
as the original)
Additonal fuel tank (extra 10 gallons - I belive) filler is where it is on
non-syncros
Interior is 100 percent original and spotless
Complete with manual, original sales brochures and all records
Additional cabin lights and rear reading lights, CO2 detector
All window and rear hatch screens
Original cargo bag for roof top carrier
Five allow wheels with matching tyres in great shape
All original tools
Portable toilet in matching cabinet/upolstery
Factory installed hitch, map pockets, cup holders, VW radio w/anti theft
code
Alarm system
Wired for 2nd battery but not installed
New O2 sensor
Nose Bra
No dents or dings in the body anywhere (rear fibreglass bumper has some
cracks on the top where the PO hit a pole - they are superfical) The front
bumper is spotless (and metal by the way).
We bought this van last summer from a fellow who lived in the midwest. He
and his wife drove the van to Alaska for their final vacation as his health
was deteriorating. We arranged to purchase it from him when his trip was
over. After the purchase and before they flew home, we had dinner and he
told me about the van. He had a life long dream to tour Africa and had done
a lot of research to find a good vehicle. He decided the VW syncro was the
one. He and his wife flew to Austria to pick this rig up and he had factory
accessories installed there. Back in the states, he had the van
professionally modified with extra fuel and propane and a full protective
belly pan for a trip to Africa. He unfortuately became ill and had to give
up the dream.
We have used it once to go camping and it is magnificent. However, shortly
afterpurchasing it, I was accepted to medical school and we can no longer
afford to keep it. I will probably regret selling it for the rest of my
life becasue it is as close to new as you can get but with the extra fuel
and propane and the awesome belly pan to protect the whole thing.
This van has been professionally maintained all its life as the records
show. The only thing I have done is to replace the O2 sensor to get it to
pass emmissions and change the oil and hydralic fluids.
I'm asking $25,000 for the van which is what we paid for it last year.
The syncro is located in Anchorage Ak. There is a possiblity I could drive
it out to Seattle this Fall (September) when I return to Seattle for school
but you are really missing an opportunity to fly up and drive down thorugh
AK and Canada yourself. You can reach me by e-mail at roverini@juno.com. I
am currently finishing up this quarter at school in Seattle and will return
to Anchorage on 19 Jun.
My thanks to all the wonderful people on the list who helped guide me in
this pruchase a year ago.
