Uh, I don't follow. There is no Eurospec conversion involved here. You got the parts you need already. Go to the junkyard and pick up a jetta motor for 200 bucks. It will have everything you need. Just adapt the ps and ac hoses and do the emission details. How would a wbx be any easier or economical? You can get some money for the esoteric diesel parts, but the crappy wbx motor will eat up any profits. The wbx plugs in without any fabrication, but your talking about a boatload of parts to make it work. You would be better off buying a wbx van and stripping it. That is false economy IMHO. > -----Original Message----- > From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com]On Behalf > Of Mike Catlin > Sent: Saturday, May 29, 1999 10:44 PM > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Re: 82 diesel with an 86 gas engine > > > Pat Dooley wrote: > > > why would you convert to a wbx when an inline gas motor would > bolt right in, > > cost much less, and be more reliable? > > Could be a previous owner trying to get the most $ for excess > parts he wants to > get rid of, while saving the cost of a Eurospec I-4 conversion > kit.
