It has been a few years since I replaced mine but if memory serves the difference in cost between a rebuild kit and a new MC is not that much. I dont remember the difference but whatever it was it did not take me any time at all to decide in favor of the new one. Again working from memory the actual instllation of the rebuild kit did not seem all that hard. Difficulties arise when examining the condition of the MC you are rebuilding. Small pits can develop in the bore that are easy to overlook when deciding weather or not it is worth rebuilding. These pits, if they are there, WILL be found by the new seals after the rebuild. The new seals will let you know the pits are there by leaking again.
