Subject: Opinions on JC Whitney's various alarms?

I'm planning to install an alarm in the van. Looking in the archives I found posts from two people who had installed DEI Hornets. I looked around the WWW for good deals. JC Whitney seem to have a good price ($89) on what I think is a DEI Hornet 723T (Anyone knows for sure?) Other WWW sites advertized that one for $100 or more.

JC Whitney also has several other alarms. Most interesting is their $69 "Valiant". THis one has more features than the Hornet (has trunk release and starter kill as standard rather than option) ANyone has experiences or opinions on that particular one? Or do you prefer any of their various other ones? (Whistler, guardian 911, audiovox)?

Basically I'm looking for a good alarm with hopefully some features like: + Long range sender (Over 100ft, preferably over 300) + One aux output at least (to turn on aux heater in the winter) + Power lock output + Starter kill

I plan to put sirens inside and outside. Anything else I can do to make it as unpleasant as possible for the thief to remain inside?

Thanks for any insights, Martin -- Martin Jagersand email: jag@cs.yale.edu Computer Science Department jag@cs.rochester.edu Yale University
