Subject: Adding some cabinetry, any ideas?

I am preparing to put a weekender kit in my 84 GL. I really wanted a Carat interior, but the weekender zbed and folding middle seats will be a nice improvement.

I am considering mounting the middle seat in the outboard position, closer to the door than usual. This will leave a few feet next to the driver's side of the bus. I know this will make back seat access more difficult, but it won't be worse than a nine seater.

Here I am considering putting in some sort of cabinetry next to the window. It will extend from the back of the middle seats to the sheet metal on which the driver seat is mounted. I envision the cabinetry extending to the bottom of the window, so as not to block off airflow. A may configure the top to allow my cooler to be secured to it. (Maybe a extending a ledge around the cabinet and having some place to attach bungees. Maybe a drain tube.)

Any thoughts on this idea?
