Just went 3000 miles. Sacramento/Denver round trip. Averages: 18.5 at 75 mph/4000+ rpm: tail winds, 4000 feet, 60 degrees, out 22.5 at 55 mph/3000+ rpm: head winds, 5000 feet, 65 degrees, back Cheapest gas I can find. Mostly 87 to 85 octane, as recommended. 4 mpg difference due apparently to wind resistance at high speeds. Doubles from 50 to 70. Thought my odometer had gone haywire since the speedometer has 238K miles of thinking it's part of a rhythm section. Lighter than a westy and less wind resistance. 2 adults. Couple hundred pounds of stuff. Cheers, Tom Neal '87 syncro w/o driveshaft On Tue, 1 Jun 1999, rob passehl wrote: > what kind of gas milage should i expect from my 87 westy? this weekend i |
