Just a thought. Our skylight screen is held on by Velcro but it is installed with the barb side glued to the ceiling and the hook side of the tape sewn to the screen. I would assume this is an original installation but I find every time I am in the van with the pop-top down and the screen not installed I catch my hair on the Velcro around the vent. I would think it would be better to install the hook side on the ceiling. I don't see that it would make any difference in the function of the Velcro. When we reglued ours we used contact cement.
