when i was in Germany last summer, i also saw a vanagon, which looked like what we would call a Carat, badged as a "Multivan". I also saw some baseline vans badged as "BUS", and some as "transporters" (kombi's and pickups) and of course the nicer models being badged as "Caravelle" (C, CL, or GL), and their Westies are badged as "Camping" (they even have a model of a westy called a "Joker".

My dad just got back from South Africa 2 days ago, and was marveling at all the brand new "Microbus" and "Caravelle" badged vans on the road down there.. the name "Vanagon" is only used in North America.

so yes, there are different names for our beloved boxes on wheels, depending on where you're at.
