I am very sad to report that I rolled and totalled my 89 Vanagon Westfalia
(w/about 68K) this Memorial Day weekend.

A vehicle in the passing lane lost control and spun out directly into my
path. We collided and the impact threw me off the highway, down off the
shoulder bank, up into another bank which literally acted like a ski ramp
and launched the Vanagon airborne. We went up into the air, rolled in the
air onto the driver's side about 110deg, and smashed down on the top edge of
the poptop, then onto the side. We skidded about 100 feet. Seatbelts saved
our lives in each of the three impacts. We walked away without a scratch.
The entire camping unit took the brunt of the impact.


Now the S-O-S:

Insurance is saying that the range of claim settlement will be between
$5000-$8000.

I need your help, here please. I need to collect proof of the going prices
for these vehicles around the country and Canada. If you can forward,
preferably by snail mail, or by email,.. any ads for similar vehicles for
sale.....this would help bolster my case.

Also, I am considering repurchasing the vehicle for salvage to part out. The
engine is great, the front grill is great, mostly everything was in great
shape.  I even have an Eberspracher gasoline heater with interior
thermostat. I am located in Atlanta, GA. The vehicle now is outside of
Columbia, SC.  Are any of you interested in a pulling/parting out party?
