Yep, quite a racket indeed. Scared me to death first time I heard it... then had to put up with it through three hours of KS driving into a head- wind.

I haven't really tried to fix it as I'm planning on replacing all the 'seals' up there, and expect that when I re-install the luggage compartment with a 'stickier' seal, it'll press down against the roof and stop the movement. In the meantime I have folded up some random newspaper and stuck it in the gap. Works great.

Reminds of the winter of maybe '82 or '83, cross-country in a '67 Mustang, so cold the automatic choke kept closing at highway speed... Nancy Reagan was on the front cover of Time Mag. and boy did she do a great job of keeping that choke open, jammed into the top of the carb ;)
