Hardly an urban legend. If fact, the page your link refers me to says to remove birds from the area until the product has dried and the area has been ventilated. We keep parrots, and participate in several bird lists as well as Vanagon. Two people I know well have lost birds within minutes of applying the product, and one is sueing the company.

The following is a quote directly from Proctor & Gambel's web site on Fabrese:

"Birds are reported to be uniquely sensitive to a number of household products and environmental factors... We recommend not using Febreze, or any other scented household product, around your bird."

Our avian vet said, "Don't even think about using it near your birds."
