Subject: Coolant opinions re: Prestone LongLife
Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

It's now been two years since I flushed my '88 Westy's coolant and put in new Prestone LongLife 5 year coolant (Phosphate/Silicate free), which is orange in colour. A very slight drop in levels (about 3/4" in the tank) has been traced to a leaky rear heater core, so I think it has keep the head gaskets in good shape. I've only driven about 15-20k km in this time however, so ymmv.

I was thinking of flushing it out due to age (it claims 5 years, but...) and wondered if any new revelations about coolant had surfaced since I was last active on the list about 2 years ago. Specifically, anything good/bad about Prestone LongLife, or Prestone LowTox coolants?
